Hello. This is an extract from the novel Close to home by Robert Dugoni. "He" here is a prosecutor.

He hung up, stood, and unrolled his shirtsleeves to button his cuffs. โ€œI have to go argue a disqualification motion of one of the jurors. Feel free to stay here and use my office.โ€

I would like to know the meaning of "disqualification motion" in this case. Please help me. Thank you.
Someone has made a motion (= formal proposal) for one of the jurors to be disqualified (from serving as juror). The prosecutor is arguing in support of this motion.
I agree, but I would have thought โ€œargueโ€ could mean arguing either for or against the motion?
Yes, it's not clear whether the prosecutor is trying to retain the juror or remove the juror. His office could have filed the motion or the defense lawyer could have filed it.

Yes, agreed after thinking about it. (The position would have been clarified with 'argue for' or 'argue against'.)
