edging vs edge

"Edging" is a class noun. = Something that provides the function of an edge to something else.

Compare
The garden has a fence.
The fencing is made of wood.

The widows have two layers of glass
The house has double glazing.

Unfortunately, you have not provided a sentence in which you will use edge/edging. Could you do that?
Edging is something made of physical material.
An edge is more like a location or boundary, not necessarily material.
Actually the definition is the initial context, in the first place I was looking up the "curb" entry, and was confused by "edging".

But I've come up with another one for "edge":

I'm watching ATP Miami semifinal, so far the ball hit by Isner has often fell on the edge of the court.

Is this usage OK?

As for "edging", I got one from Google:

"Can anyone make any suggestions on how I can fix the edging of my desk?"

Can I replace it with "edge" here?

Btw, is it okay to replace "edging to" with "edging of" in the curb's definition?

You need the past participle "fallen". Apart from that the sentence is correct as far as it goes, but I cannot work out what is meant. Tennis courts don't have anywhere defined as the "edge". Do you mean the ball landed on the service line or outside the court?

No. The person is asking about the strip of material that runs round the edge of their desk, which has presumably come adrift. This strip is called the edging. I expect that by "fix" they mean "glue"/"secure", rather than "mend".
Edge and edging are not the same, but are obviously related.

As you know, the edge of your desk is where it ends: a pen might roll over the edge of the desk and fall on the floor.

The edging of the desk surface is a strip of wood, metal or other material that gives extra strength or wear-resistance or better appearance to the edge of the desk.
