elevator banks

La frase es "He knew well the elevator banks and crowded lobbies in the city"

Muchas gracias
I would say el área de los elevadores
It may be a British expression. In AmE, where we wait for the elevator, we simply call it "the elevator".

-- Where´s Nancy?
-- I just saw her at the elevator. ( ... waiting for the elevator)

"vestíbulos de ascensores"?
I don't think it's a BE expression. We would say, "... by the lifts".

Elevator bank seems to be more of a techinical description relating to the structure of a cluster of elevator (lift) shafts passing through the building.

In the example given, I would simply say, ""He knew well the elevators and crowded lobbies in the city"
