Epic

I'm doubtful of the PLURAL use of this word. Example:

navigators from the old world brought ancestral families
mixing races, colour, music of rhythmic drums..
spanish, english, french and dutch, portuguese, indo-african...
all their EPIC (or EPICS?) hurt my memory...

I'll be thankful if someone explains this to me, please.
Epics is fine. Today epic is used a lot colloquially instead of "very good" but in your case it is completely correct to say epics.

A million thanks for taking the time to clear the fog.

Greetings from the Iron Babel.
I don't think epic is a good choice here. "All their histories" would be better, I think. Personally, I would add something that gave the reader an idea what was causing the pain. "The weight of all their histories hurt my memory".

An epic is usually a long tale about the adventures of one person (such as The Odyssey). It's unusual to group epics and diminishes the impact of the word somehow, in my opinion.

I think you're thinking of the adjective use, as in "That was epic!"
Good, we're going somewhere. You probably got the plot here, that, is not the history, but, the suffering and adversity, more of the slaves brought to America
by all of the above mentioned explorers and plunderers, than about themselves, as
masters. To me is similar to The Trail of Tears, but a lot larger, and, less intentional
as that one was. That's why I chose "epics", although is not "one hero" as Ulysses,
but an entire race uprooted from their home.
Do you think this makes a diff.?

Thank you.
