Farewell

I've just seen you off down the mountain,
My friend, and the sun's set so I close my wooden door.
Green grass is sure to return again next spring,
But, my royal friend, are you?

This is another five-character quadrain from the Chinese Tong dynasty dating back over one thousand years ago. It still grip my feelings so much so that I post it here to share with my friends.
1.) Correct anything you don't see fit for me. Thanks.
2.) How do you feel about it?
3.) It was only beautiful to me in the past, but I can sense a universal truth in the poem. Do you, my friends, perceive what I do?
I'll be much obliged to you for sharing your feelings.
Greetings Pioussoul,

Thank you for posting the quatrain. I share your appreciation of it.
These are not literary forums, so we need to limit ourselves to your language usage questions.

I see no problems with your translation. The tone and register are consistently familiar.

Hi,

I wonder if I can use "Farewell" in the following context:

I was on a subway train and reading English, I saw a foreigner next to me reading English novels, I didn't talk with him, just smiled at each other, when I was about to get off, I said:

Farewell.

Is it okay?
