Feed the meter

It's from the movie The Pursuit of happyness

Chris, a salesman sees a guy with a really good sports car probably an expensive one and he couldn't resist himself from asking him: What do you do? And how do you do it?
The guy with the sports car: I'm a stockbroker.

Chris: I'll let you hang on to my car for the weekend but I need it back for Monday.
The guy with the sports car: Feed the meter.

Could someone please tell me the meaning of "feed the meter"?
I think "feed the meter" means to put money in a parking meter.
Why would Chris pay for the parking? I don't understand please help me.

Yes.

Why would Chris pay for the parking?

It's a joke. Chris was talking as if it were his car and the man was saying "If it's your car, pay the parking charges".
