flat arc

Does anyone know what a flat arc is? It was found in the description of a movement made with a blade/sword:"he flipped his sword to his left hand, swept it around in a flat, vicious arc"...
Hello Danae,
Imagine a sweeping movement in which the travel of the sword is on a single plane. The arc is the distance of travel.
Consider, for example, that the arc is always exactly parallel to the ground on which the swordsman stands.
