flip over

When No One Is Watching - Alyssa Cole

The female protagonist was doing hair when she fell asleep. Later, woke up

In the background, the low shouts of drama as a Real Housewife of Somewhere flips over a table on the television filter through the small, clean three-chair salon.
Does this "flips over" mean the TV picture is reflected on the table?

Or, it's just the TV picutre flickers?
I assume that she turned a table over on its side as she was being filmed. That was probably the reason for the 'low shouts of drama' that were coming through the T.V.
Do you know what a television filter is because I have no idea?
I still don't see any grammaticality in the sentence that makes any logical sense. Flips?
"The Real Housewives ..." series are quite dramatic. They very upset with each other sometimes. I can quite believe that one of them would flip a table over or throw a vase against the wall or ... during an argument.
It sounds to me as though the protagonist falls asleep in the salon where she's working and wakes up when someone in the TV show (which is playing on the TV) flips over a table on the show. The sound of the table makes a noise that's loud enough to wake her up.
Does she fall asleep while she's working? That is, while she's cutting, coloring, etc. a client's hair? That seems strange to me.

Thanks to your help I understand it now but in my opinion it has to be the most awkwardly written sentence of all time. And "all time" is a long time.

I tried to rewrite the sentence more clearly but I'm not even sure how "in the background" works with "filters through". Is it in the background or is it coming through?

In the background, the low shouts that are caused by something dramatic happening [can be heard] filtering through the small, clean, three-chair salon. The shouts are being made by a woman who is appearing on the TV show β€œReal Housewives” and has knocked a table over.
I assume that she turned a table over on its side...
Flip over is more dramatic than turn over.
Do a web search of "flip over a table". (I can't insert an animation here, unfortunately.)
