Frondeur

in current context ( political shenanigans) how would you describe the word Frondeur? the official translation of slinger doesnt help much, i dont really know what that even means!!

It could have several meanings, do you have a sentence and a more precise context?

The general meaning is "who doesn't follow the rules/decisions of his group/team/majority".

Les frondeurs, "the rebellious" ?

I guess the OP is talking about those members of the socialist party who openly criticize the socialits government of France, sound very brave in the media, but in fact, often fall short of voting against the government's bills.
There must have been many such events in British party history.
I would say "dissenters".

Thanks Everyone. @Michelvar, WME is correct, i was referring to the member of the PS who are criticising Valls 2 ( the most recent government formed in France) ..... WME, is there indeed a suggestion that a Frondeur won't act on his convictions? if so that adds a new dimension.... otherwise I think "dissenters" works well but perhaps "political rebels" might be better as it conveys the sense of rebelling against ones own party... although neither of these have any suggestion that the individual won't follow through on their dissenting beliefs.... maybe for that you need to add in "fair-weather political rebels" !

On the contrary, "les députés frondeurs" are members of the PS who don't accept any longer to vote like their leader, because they are left-wing, and currently the government's policy becomes more and more right-wing. So the dissenters say "my convictions are left-wing, I was elected on a left-wing program, I will not support anymore a left-wing government who does a right-wing policy" .
