front end loader

Construction equipment has different names in different countries.

I think in the U.S. that would be called a front end loader.

Where would wheel loader be used?
Caterpillar, an American company operating worldwide and one of the largest manufacturers of these vehicles, calls them "wheel loaders". That is on its US and UK sites. Here's a link to its US site. That distinguishes them from "track loaders", which the company also makes.

I'm a little surprised they aren't called wheeled loaders and tracked loaders, but then, I've always called them "diggers".

Ha, I thought digger is the equipment with an arm. Front end loader can't dig actually.
