Hi, I was recently talking to a work collegue, about a mountain bike race I am doing ,to give you the context, it starts at the top on a mountain on the snow and you finish at the bottom of the valley 3000 meters lower and 2 hours and 40 miles later ...

After talking of all this as he is keen on cycling, he says : " you are such a fruit cake".

Being french I am not sure of the meaning of " fruit cake". An other work collegue told me it means gay or weak.

is this correct as I am a bit confused.

Thanks for your help.
It may mean what your colleague suggested, but that's new to me. I would take it as a shortened form of "nutty as a fruit cake", an expression that means goofy or crazy.
Hi supra-man and welcome to the Forum,

The WordReference Dictionary is a good place to start some research on the word fruitcake. If you type it (as one word) into the Dictionary Lookup at the top of the page, you'll find this definition:

2. a whimsically eccentric person

...and these two previous threads about the complete idiom, "nutty as a fruitcake":
English Expression Origin: Nutty as a Fruitcake
Nutty as a fruitcake

"Fruit" on its own can refer to a gay man (see this previous thread). This may be what your other colleague was thinking of.
