go <around> back

A going-away party in the yard of a house. Then the guests come out to see the departing person off, in front of the house. After that, one of the guests there gets acquainted with a woman there, and tells her:
-- Why don't we go around back, uh, get a little drink?
And they go back to the house.
Shallow Hal, movie

What does "around" mean here? Thank you.
You can go around to some place metaphorically (without literally moving in a circular fashion).
You can go around to the back of the house by going through the house. The grammar police will not arrest you. 👁 Wink ;)
Usually it means to actually go around the house rather than going through it though. Inside the house you would say "why don't we go out back?"
Though, I'm now not sure if they were going to go through the house to the yard, maybe they were literally going around. If at all. That is where the movie ends so I'll never know👁 Big Grin :D
