What does a grant writer do? What does it mean?
Thanks
It has to do with a non-profit. The organization is asking for volunteer "grant writers"
"Grant" here is related to these two meanings:
1 grant, subsidization, subsidisation
the act of providing a subsidy
8 grant
any monetary aid

A grant writer prepares proposals for obtaining funding for a project or activity, whether. The organization likely wants people that can help them solicit funds from donor entities.
It is a very specialized skill, as far as I understand. A grant writer is really a misnomer but it is the term used for the job. They are proposal writers who write proposals in order to secure grants from the government or philanthropic institutions.

(Re-reading bibliolept's post, I don't think I added much. πŸ‘ Frown :(

Grant writer is similar in purpose to an Income tax preparer. The need to follow form when preparing proposals for funding grants is so keen that the ordinary individual is often rejected merely because their do-it-yourself application did not meet the standards expected. In tax for preparaton, the individual taxpayer who prepares his own forms incorrectly risks the prospect of an audit. The Grant writer is presumed to be an expert.
