Grudge

I have a query regarding the word "grudge". The context is, someone had sent me a very beautiful cake, it looked so gorgeous that I didn't want to cut/eat it. Can I say: "I grudge cutting/eating it."?

Thank you so much.
I think the word you're looking for is "begrudge" (=to do something reluctantly or resentfully).
I don't think you can use "begrudge" in the OP example though. The cake is stale; I begrudge the money I spent on it. You are happy, I am sad; I begrudge you your happiness.

"I'd say "It seems a shame to cut the cake", though there may be other expressions. I wouldn't say "I grudge (am reluctant) having to cut it."
Thank you so much to DonnyB and velisarius. I really want to see if there is a better word/way to express the same meaning of "it seems a shame to cut the cake" (since it is so beautiful).
