Hello!

Can anybody please clarify me what "hard-edged" means in the following sentence?

"The band never made an harder-edged album, a celebration of rock for rock's sake."

Does "hard-edged" here refer to the sonic aspects of the album ("hard and heavy" sound, loud guitars and drums) or does it mean that the band didn't make any compromises or trade-offs when making the album.

Thank you very much for your help!
I would imagine more guitar solos in a harder-edged album.
Yes, but I'm not quite sure if it refers to the sound of the band.

Accordding to dict.com hard-edged means also "uncompromising".
I understand that, but take a look at this phrase:

"a celebration of rock for rock's sake"

When you say , the first thing I imagine is two long-haired guys with guitars running around the stage 👁 Smile :)
You can imagine what it's like when you have a whole "celebration of rock for rock's sake" 👁 Smile :)
