Do you mean hawkish as in the behavior of a hawk, or as in the appearance?

If it's behavior you're looking for, hawks are aggressive, warlike and often contentious.

Appearance wise, you're pretty much stuck with hawkish - how else can you describe a hawk in one word without using the word hawk?
hawkish describes a policy => He remained hawkish on crime policy.
Huh, well, I've never heard it used quite that way. Do you mean very stubborn?

I'd be interested in knowing a synonym for this as well, if only to see what this means 👁 Smile :)

Je pense que "hawkish" correspond en français à un comportement belliqueux ou à une personne bellicisite.
Le terme est très employé dans l'actualité économique par la BCE pour désigner sa politique monétaire restrictive (...The Euro’s record high on Tuesday was boosted by hawkish remarks from ECB officials...)

Dans ce domaine, j'ai lu le terme "rigoriste" dans la revue financière Agefi.
