I said it very sarcastic. I just meant it to make him squirm, and it done it. He stiffened up and was very distant, and said I was a jackass. Tom Sawyer’s Conspiracy
I think it means the same as "he became very distant", but I’m not sure. I’ve found this in the dictionary: stiff: very formal or not very friendly; distant: reserved or aloof. But why should the author say the same thing twice? Does he want to emphasize it?
