C. J. Sansom writes in his 'Lamentation':

Servants in the king's livery of green and white, HR engraved on their doublets, mingled with the throng

Can you guess what HR might mean? It can me hardly Human Resources of House of Representatives as they were the king's servants. The king was Henry Tudor. Why HR?
It would have been "Henricus Rex" (King Henry) in Latin. It's the custom. Queen Victoria was "Victoria Regina".
