English Dictionary define "impending" as (often of something unpleasant or unwanted) going to happen soon.

e.g impending storms, a sense of impending doom ...

I read a news on China Daily today which says:

Chinse Premier Wen will pay an "official goodwill visit " to the DPRK between Sunday and Tuesday. The impending visit was also confirmed by the DPRK's Korean Central News Agency.

Question: Since this official visit is good will, why is it still used "impending"?
From dictionary.com:

im⋅pend⋅ing
–adjective 1.about to happen; imminent: their impending marriage. 2.imminently threatening or menacing: an impending storm.

Anything that is about to happen can be described either as impending or imminent.
