Hi, I'd like some info on irregular nouns.

I KNOW

la foto(grafía)
la radio(grafía)
la moto(cicleta)

All words ending in -ema or -ama come from Greek nouns that are masculine.

I DON'T KNOW

la mano
el día
most nouns that end in -ma are masculine i.e. el clima, el problema, el idioma

also, just some irregulars for you:
el mapa
el agua

el agua is actually femenine. It appears masculine because of the stressed "a" which requires el/un.

El agua podrida. Las aguas podridas.

Still worth mentioning thoug because it appears irregular to learnings of Spanish! 👁 Smile :)

also--el arma, al aguila.

they apparently say "la mapa" in paraguay too.

just thought of another:

la radio-originally the only form (Radiografia) but now it can mean radio station.
el radio-originally incorrect for the radio used now often accepted as the device. it also means radius/radial bone.
