Bonsoir ^^
Comment traduire itty bitty town ?
J'ai vu que litte-bitty signifiait un tout petit peu.
Je suppose que itty insiste sur le fait que c'est une toute petite ville, mais je ne suis pas sûre du tout à vrai dire.
Quelqu'un aurait-il une idée ?
Merci d'avance 👁 Smile :)
un tout petit village

I imagine the itty and bitty come from the word little. Itty is only used in this expression as far as I know. You can refer to an old woman as an old bitty, but it's not very nice. It's like calling her an old maid, and it also suggests that she's crabby.

When I'm saying something is itty bitty in French, I just pronounce it à la française: "eety beety . . ." 👁 Smile :-)

Actually, the expression is an "old biddy", not an "old bitty". A biddy is a hen.

Ici, on dit "toute petite ville" aussi. Toujours on dit les mots "itty bitty" ensemble en anglais, et alors on a l'idée d'une chose qu'on peut voir seulement avec une microscope.
itty bitty is derived from little bit, kind of baby talk. But now used colloquially in the same instances as one might say in French "tout petit mini"

variation: itsy-bitsy, which is used in a child's nursery rhyme "The Itsy-Bitsy Spider", as well as a famous old pop song, "Itsy-bitsy Teeny-weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini"
