Hi Forum,
Say I laminate a few two-pocket folders for long lasting use. Can I say that I get my laminating done at the bookstore? Thanks.
I agree with Cagey.
A small point for clarification, though ...
Is this something that you do often? Do you regularly or habitually need to have things laminated?
The implication of your sentence and indeed of Cagey's alternative is that this is a regular requirement. That's why you both say this in the present.
If laminating was a one-off requirement it would be more natural to say:
I got my laminating done at the bookstore.
This is the difference between:
I get my fish and chips at Café Fish. <-This is a regular action.
- and -
I got my fish and chips at Café Fish. <- This is one occasion.
Back to the laminating. I understand from post #1 that this is a one-off action, not something that you do routinely. So I would suggest:
I got my laminating done at the bookstore.
- or -
I had a bookstore laminate my folders.
