lexical verb

Does anybody know what's exactly a lexical verb? In theory, in grammar that expression is used routinely.

I guess that a lexical verb is the one that is not auxiliay or modal.
Henrik. It is how the words in a sentence are put together. Here is a quote from a book:

"members of the lexical category of verbs (V) have the morphological property of having tense distinctions such as present and past (eg, sing -- sang; walk - walked; drive - drove; is -- was)"
