I found this about a well-known British politician in a famous online free encyclopedia and don't know what it means and how to translate this: "When he returned to the Cabinet in 2008, he was created a life peer so that he would have speaking and voting rights in the House of Lords."

il a été fait pair (du royaume) à vie => il a été anobli je suppose.

Bonjour, je dirais aussi qu'il a été fait (ou nommé) pair à vie.

Ce n'est pas tout à fait la même chose que d'être anobli (les nobles ne sont pas tous pairs).
