long-awaited

Bonjour tout le monde,

Y-a-t-il une expression francaise pour dire "long-awaited"?

Par exemple :
"He felt like a long-awaited emperor at whose feet flowers would be strewn."

Merci d'avance
The WR dictionary gives "longuement attendu".

Il y a aussi "tant attendu", mais je ne crois pas que cela convienne très bien dans ce cas précis.
Would this work:
"le conquerant longuement attendu, l'oint du Seigneur"?
"Tant attendu" is much, much more frequent than "longuement attendu", and would be a better fit for your sentence. In fact, I can't think of any instances where the use of "longuement attendu" would be more appropriate.
I realise that this is coming late... however while I agree that tant attendu is more frequent, imho, it all depends on which article you want to use.

One could say le conquérant tant attendu, but in context - "a long awaited" - I believe (I could be wrong) that un empereur longtemps attendu would fit better.

I'd use longtemps rather than longuement... but don't really like the combination of un and tant
I never said it was entirely wrong. I simply wrote that I personally don't like it. Unless attendu is the last word in a short phrase, rather than sentence. e.g. xxx date, un jour tant attendu OR xxxx un logiciel tant attendu.

I wouldn't write Il se sentait comme un conquérant tant attendu...

Des goûts et des couleurs... 👁 Wink ;)
