make your debut oral report

It is natural to feel nervous when you make your debut oral report.

HI,
Does the part in bold sound good to you if it's intended to mean "make your first oral report?" Thanks.
To be honest, Bamboo, this sounds odd to me but I'm not sure why. For some reason, I don't like the word "oral". To me, it would sound better if you used the word "verbal" instead of "oral".

All in all, though, I think it would be more natural-sounding to say what you did in your question - I would use "first" rather than "debut".
"debut" is usually reserved for the arts.

"oral report" is a term I'm familiar with, we used to do them in elementary school.
It sounds odd to me because I would not naturally use debut as an adjective.
Oral report wouldn't bother me.
Replace debut with first and it reads OK, though it doesn't necessarily have the same impact.
