market hunter

Hi spartanzoch,

Seeing as we may be a bit shy on duck-hunting experts, can you please provide us with the sample sentence where you saw this?

I would suspect it has something to do with hunting ducks specifically for the purpose of putting them on the market for sale to restaurants, groceries, etc. However, I am not certain of this.

Welcome to the Forums!
thanks for your welcome in the forum.
the sentence is " Mr GLODO created the "call" used by my great grandfather and his market hunter who supplied ducks to the pprestigious restaurants from.......
is a market hunter a professional hunter?
Again, just conjecture here:

I don't know if a market hunter is professional in that he gets paid for the time he spends hunting, or just that he hunts and is then paid for what he is able to bring back and sell "to the market.''

I also don't know if the term market hunter expresses one's level of expertise, or simply one's intent in selling the goods on the market.

My guess is that to be a successful market hunter, one must also be highly skilled.

I would wait for others who have a better grasp of the subject to provide you with a more detailed answer.

Given the sentence, however, it is clear that a market hunter does sell what he catches/kills to restaurants.
I presume that a duck which has been visibly marred by a blast from a shotgun would fetch a lower (if any) price than one in good condition. I take it from that thought that more care needs to be taken by a market hunter.
in other words tha market hunter how would you call a hunter who supplies restaurant?
thanks
