meet up

What does meet up mean? Does it mean "bump into" or "arrange to see someone"? That is, do people meet accidentally or on purpose?
First, it was used in the title of a conversation, that is, "meet up again". Then it turns up in the conversation:"Any way, listen, mate, we've got to be going. Let's meet up some time."
It means "let's get together" -- of course, to actually have that happen, there's going to be some planning involved. It won't be a chance meeting.

I am afraid I don't agree with you. I think meet up in the second place means arrange to see someone.
FH3579, if you knew why did you ask?

You ask a question, you get a response from a native speaker, and then you say "No, you are wrong and I am right"? Why are you here?

Copyright's answer is correct, by the way.

I have made a mistake. I thought copyright had said let's go together, which seemed a repetition in the context. Now I understand, he is right.
