mental breakdown

Overcome with the presuure of work, Jack is on the edge of

Does sound good? If yes, is it equal to ? Thanks.

I think people do say mental breakdown, but a nervous breakdown is a slightly more technical term suggestive of a more complete collapse into depression. I think if someone talks of mental breakdown they may well be trying not to say nervous breakdown, because they want to suggest that whoever it is would be OK for a week off work, rather than several months, at the least.

Mhhh
I feel "nervous breakdown" implies an easier recovery from a sypmtom, whereas "mental breakdown" is much more serious. Best to get the advice of a shrink, on this one 👁 Big Grin :D
If someone were to tell me I could have my choice to experience one or the other: mental breakdown or nervous breakdown, I would not be happy about either choice.

In my opinion, they're both equally bad.
