mix up

The usages of "Mix up" has truly mixed me up:
It always comes to me that we commonly say "mix up something",
e.g, mix up two concepts, mix up the salad,
and the only time we say mix things up is when we refer to persons and pronouns,
e.g. You guys don't mix me up, or cut the cucumber into pieces and mix them up with salad dressing.

But recently I come across an expression of mix things up, which is quite weird to me, "She mixed their medicine up in a glass".

should the sentence be she mix up their medicine up in a class? if not, what's the difference between the two orders?
I don't see any difference in meaning between "She mixed their medicine up in a glass" and "She mixed up their medicine in a glass", sammik. For some reason, the second version sounds slightly better to me, but I wouldn't have any problem understanding the first sentence.

Where did you read this, Sammik, and what was the context? (Who are "she" and "they"? What exactly did she do? Was there more than one medicine?)

Colloquially, anything can be mixed "up," a load of concrete, a Margarita, a ton of compost, etc.

I like Margaritas, please mix up one for me. It's fine if you do it in the glass.

(I have no idea where you got the "class" from)
Thank you for correcting my language mistake Parla👁 Smile :)
, the sentence is just shown to be an example, whose context is not that important here. Thanks again for helping me!
sdgraham, your reply is very detailed, thanks a lot!👁 Thumbs Up

C in the word "class" is a typing mistake, I'm sorry that I didn't check it out👁 Stick Out Tongue :p

All of you guys, sdgraham, owlman5 and Parla, you did a good job and your replies really help a lot! I'm grateful for all of them!
To me, to "mix up medicine" is to make a terrible mistake and confuse one medicine with another, with possibly disastrous consequences.

(And I'd prefer that you make me a Margarita.)
