Naysayer

Hello everyone,

According to Oxford, naysayer means ''a person who criticizes, objects to, or opposes something''. : Does ''naysayer'' sound natural/correct in the examples that I made up below in colloquial English?

a. Jake: Everybody thinks Jane is our best teacher; you're the only one who disagrees. You're a naysayer, Mark! (high school friends talking)
b. Karla: She disagrees with almost everything we say. It's so annoying! Betty: She's a naysayer. (people talking about their boss)

Thank you in advance!
That is what it means, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone actually use it. Neither of those examples sounds very natural to me, particularly not the one about two high school kids chatting.
I don't think I've heard "naysayer" ever used in real conversation. It used to be common enough in print, and I imagine it is still used, but not in conversation.
I have heard "naysayer" but only of someone that consistently objects to almost every change suggested.

I would not use "naysayer" to characterize a person who objected to just one thing.

A naysayer seems more like a vocal obstructionist, someone who is always against progress.
I would say a) is not a correct usage as Mark has only said no to one thing. It hasn't been established that he has a pattern of saying no frequently.
The WR dictionary does not list any BE meaning for "naysayer". In AE, it says the meaning is:

a person who habitually expresses negative or pessimistic views

You're a naysayer, Mark!
This sounds like an accusation. I don't think it's used this way -- telling a person they are a "naysayer". If you did, I am sure you would get an argument. They might say "No, I'm just a realist. I disagree with optimistic fantasies".
I agree with Doji. You would not normally accuse someone of being a naysayer; you might describe them that way though.

Mark, all your naysaying is not productive at all. Can't you ever suggest something that is feasible to accomplish by the committee?
