Occasionally I'll have a piece of chocolate, but it's very rare. (Source)
Hi, I sometimes see "will" used with occasionally. Why don't we just use simple present tense here? as in:

Occasionally I have a piece of chocolate, but it's very rare
Both are possible. It is fairly common in English to have several possibilities - which one the speaker chooses is basically personal preference.
Both are possible. It is fairly common in English to have several possibilities - which one the speaker chooses is basically personal preference.
Is there any difference between these two?
The word "occasionally" over-rides any difference, since it means "in the past, present and future this happens sometimes".

So if you say "occasionally" it doesn't matter whether you say "I have" or "I will have".
The verb "will" most often indicates the future ... but it sometimes has a modal value used to express a habitual action. The adverb "occasionally" confirms that this is such a situation.
