perceive and notice, those words are similar in meaning that is what I found in English dictionary.

Here is a sentence I found 'perceive' used, resource from my English textbook.

  • A bureaucracy is a form of organization that can be as both leading a company to success or leading a company to failure.
(1) Is "noticed" replaceable to "perceived"?

However, I would like to know detail difference of one another.

How different situations those words can be used?

Please, (2) tell me examples of "perceive" and "notice" used so that I distinguish which word can be used in particular situation.

Hi,

In your case, "perceived" doesn't mean the same as "noticed" -- it could be replaced by "seen" (or perhaps "understood") though.

You can use them interchangeably only if by notice and perceive you mean "become aware of."
Perceived can mean to be aware of someone or something, and so can noticed. Sometimes they can be interchanged.

However, your sentence illustrates one difference between the two words. Perceived can also mean to have an opinion about something, and this is the meaning it has in the sentence. Noticed does not have this meaning and cannot replace perceived in your sentence.

On the other hand, noticed, rather than perceived would probably be used when you were aware of something but you didn't pay full attention to it:
"I noticed that there was something on the floor, but I didn't stop to see what it was."
I won't try to list the differences, but I hope that this is a start.
Perceived and noticed have different meanings, in my opinion.

Perceived implies that a particular person may see something one way, while others may see it a different way. For example, a colorblind person may perceive a wall as grey, when in reality it is red. If you perceive death as a tragedy, others may perceive it as moving on to a better place.

Noticed simply means that, at a particular moment, you realized something in some way. If you noticed someone playing with their hair, you may perceive them as being nervous, or you may perceive them as being flirtatious.

In your sentence, perceived isn't entirely replaceable by noticed. Some may see bureaucracy as leading to success, while others perceive it as leading to failure. You can notice that in some instances it leads to both failure and success, but to replace perceived with noticed means that once a bureaucracy is implemented, someday in the future you will notice that it has either succeeded or failed.
