Pioneering

A Company started to produce a product with a great potential some years ago before many others. Can they say now, talking of that decision:

We have proved to have been forward-looking and pioneering.

I don't really think you can say this. Pioneering (adjective) is normally followed by a noun or the equivalent.
Example: Our approach has been a pioneering one.

We have been forward-looking
is fine. But if you use pioneeering instead, one immediately thinks of pioneering as an intransitive verb (similar to experimenting).
