Hi everybody,
I would like to know the meaning of this sentence : "a pit face rock".

"A pit" = a mine (coal etc)

"Pit face" = the the wall of the mine which is being worked on.

Please give a complete sentence and any context you have.
the whole sentence is "the pit face rock provides a favourable biotope for the eagle-owl."

I am guessing that eagle-owls do not live in mines so maybe their habitat is being described as resembling a pit face.

I am visualising "pit face" as being in an underground mine, but it could also mean the face of an open mine or maybe they live in a place like this:
