pitfall

Hi all,

I'm not sure that I'm using the word "pitfall" appropriately. Here is the context: "Many alliances fail because of insufficient communication between partners. In order to avoid the pitfalls of an alliance, it is recommended that companies engage in collaborative communication systems".

Can I say that? Is there another word that fits better with the sentence?

I don't think there's another word you can use that will keep the spirit of what your trying to say. I think that's perfect.
