prickly relationship

Hello

Can somebody explain to me what the expression pricky relationship means?

Thanks.
A prickly relationship is probably one that involves a considerable amount of tension or disagreement. It is not, perhaps, entirely happy or harmonious.
I can think of a few people that I have prickly relationships with. We get on fine most of the time, but when it comes to some particular issue or issues, we disagree and are unlikely ever to agree. I'd prefer not to have to spend two hours on a train with them.
I beg your pardon, but it seems like the topicstarter used the word PRICKY while PANJY uses PRICKLY. Are they the same? By the way, would spiky work in this context as PRICK(L)Y does?
The title says "prickly," and that would be the usual word. We don't use spiky for relationships.
There is a kind of cactus called prickly pear--the relationship would be like this: ulululululu (lots of little irritants).
A spike is bigger--the relationship would be like this: .....l............. so you see that wouldn't be the same thing.

Pricky is an error. It is not a word and even if it was it would not mean the same as prickly.

Spiky wouldn't work because if we were to get literal, a spike is the instrument that might prick someone. It is the slight wounds (pricks) to feelings, opinions, etc. that cause a prickly relationship.
