Hi all,
Could you help me with a question?
Parts of Scripture quotations in this publication are from NIV.
Does "publication" in this sentence only refer to something in a writing or printing form, such as a book, an article, a magazine? Can it refer to a website or an app? In other words, can I use this sentence on a website or an app to introduce the source of the scriptures?
Thanks in advance.
I think it would sound strange. You could get around the question, perhaps, by saying:

Parts of the Scripture quotations here are from the NIV.
Why only "parts"? I would not expect a Scripture quotation to be from more than one version of the Bible. 👁 Smile :)

Note that "in this publication" would mean the entire printed document - the whole magazine, for example, not just the one article you have written for it. It might even apply to every issue of a magazine.

I would use whatever term best describes where the words are written. "On this website", "on this page", "in this article", "in this app", or whatever other term seems most appropriate.

Thank you for your reply, uncle. Yeah, this is much better.

For example, some of the Scripture quotations on a website are taken from the NIV, and some are taken from the AKJV.
In that case, you should say "some of the Scripture quotations" rather than "parts of the Scripture quotations."
In a broad sense you can refer to online publishing or say that an article was published online.

But I would not refer to a text that existed only on the web as a publication in the way it's used here. I would call it a website or blog or whatever it happens to be

What's the difference between the two?
Use "some" if you want to refer to one or more complete Scripture quotations. Use "parts of" if you want to refer to elements within the Scripture quotations.
