quantity multiple issue

hey guys, here is my question:

increased 3 times/folds, increased by 3 times, increased to 3 times, increased by a factor of 3

is there any difference between these four expressions?

Please give us a complete sentence to show us what you have in mind. When we have more information, we can give a better answer. In some contexts we might prefer one version, we might prefer a different version in a different context, depending on what was increasing, and so on.

thanks for your suggestion and the hyperlinks, I found even English speaking person sometimes also have the confusion on such issue, therefore I decided to use detailed number more than ambiguous multiple expression.
