Hello!

I recently got a letter from a French friend and she made reference to "une famille recomposée". Is this a common way to refer to a "divorced family"? Is this the proper way to refer to a family who is split up?

Thank you and best wishes!

Monique
Hi, "une famille recomposée" means that either one or both partners are divorced and have children of their own besides having children together. There's an equivalent English term: "reconstituted family".
