Sto seguendo il tracking di un pacco che mi sta arrivando per posta internazionale, e sul sito dove lo controllo da quattro giorni mi dice che lo stato del pacco è in "retention". Non riesco a capire bene cosa significhi, forse che lo stanno trattenendo?

Non ho mai sentito 'retention' con riferimento ai servizi postali. Però senza contesto più dettagliato, direi che la posta sta tenendo il pacco. 👁 Smile :)

su un ordine di un cliente inglese trovo tra "Terms & Conditions" l'indicazione di Retention NIL.
Sapete dirmi di cosa si tratta? Quale è la giusta traduzione italiana?

I think it is what here we call "retainage" - it is a sum of money that the client withholds for a certain period of time to ensure that the contractor/subcontractor will correct material and workmanship defects discovered after the completion of the job. NIL means "nothing" in Latin - no retainage, in this case.

Per rispondere a Alxmrphi scusa se non sono stata chiara.
Nei termini e condizioni di un ordine un cliente mi indica tra le varie cose
- retention NIL
non conoscendo questo termine ho chiesto a voi
