Hello,
In the following texts, what does "retention" mean?
  1. The Rolling Snapshot mode requires snapshot retention to be higher than 0!
  2. The CR mode and The DR mode require copy retention to be higher than 0!
  3. The Backup mode and The Delta Backup mode require export retention to be higher than 0!

Thank you so much.
These are all names of settings, things that can be assigned a numerical value. I suggest you read the manual.

Names of settings, parameters, variables and other similar things that are assigned values don't have to mean anything. Their main function is to allow the setting, parameter, variable or whatever to be uniquely identifiable.

Can "Retention" mean "Keep"?
It can mean "keep" (although "keep" is a verb and "retention" is a noun), but it is clear that these three things are assigned a numerical value, and I find it difficult to see how "keep" could be anything other than binary.

Quite likely the three settings all refer to a policy, and that different different "snapshot retention" numbers, for example, refer to different policies. In this case, the numbers are arbitrary, so 0 might mean never retain, 10 might mean retain for one day, 20 might mean retain for one week, and 80 might mean retain forever, for example. This isn't really a language issue. As I said earlier, I suggest you read the manual.

Writers of software often struggle to find names for things, and sometimes the names they choose do not make much sense in ordinary English.
