No sé cual es el dicho equivalente en español, pero lo que quiere decir "off hand" es sin poder buscar más información o pensarlo bien--lo que ya sabes o lo que te ocurre en el momento.

I imagine that "a la mano" would translate to "off the top of my head" as well, but is there another expression that fits more exactly?

The two can be somewhat different in English, so I ponder that they might be in Spanish also.
