roll up with

bonjour
je traduis un documentaire où deux femmes font de la couture avec de la feutrine. l'une d'entre elles propose de faire une couverture avec le reste de tissu, mais l'autre répond : "i don't think this is gonna be hanging for very lolng because i think nathan (son fils de 5 ans) is gonna want to roll up with this"
la première propose alors, en plaisantant: " we could put Velcro on him and stick him to it."
je ne sais pas trop ce qu'elle veut dire par "roll up with".
quelqu'un pourrait-il m'aider?
merci

Moderator's note: We have merged two threads on the same topic. The question is repeated in English in the second post. Please do not ask that the thread be moved to the FR forum. Thanks.
hi
i'm translating an american documentary with 2 women sewing felt material.
the first one suggests to make blankies with the material left-over, for the other woman's kids, but the mother ansmers: "I don't think this is gonna be hanging for very long. I think Nathan (her 5 year old son) is gonna want to roll up with this."
the first one then suggest, as a joke: "
we could put Velcro on him and stick him to it."

could someone tell me what she means by "roll up with this"?

thanks
you have a very nice and sweet xay to answer posts.
yes, i did get an answer in the french-english forum. i'd posted my question in both forums at the same time, that's why you found it twice. and why should i justify myself?
anyway, if you just plan to repeat what someone else just told me, then , just don't. thanks

OK, first things first...I don't think there is a need to be defensive. You sound a bit touchy right now. The replies to the other posts are a little harsh. I think it is a decent idea to put your question in both forums...gives you a more rounded picture.

To "roll up in this" in this context means that the person will not want to be seen in or with it. I must say that you found a very slangy documentary. I suppose it was written that way because they are being quoted. I like the mother's humor.

hi and thanks a lot
you spared me some trouble with my employer.

ps:i know i was being touchy, as you say, but i was kind of baffled by the snobbish tone of that reply, so...
Greetings,

I just rummaged around in the pile of felt and found my Moderator's hat. I am wearing it now.

Please 1) Do not post the same question in more than one forum. If you believe that you are not getting adequate replies, PM any moderator, and ask them to move your thread to another forum. We are happy to help in this way.
2. Do not engage in sniping and personal attacks, no matter how subtle or witty.

I'll leave this thread open, but with a request that we remember that the forums are for mutual help. Further, I am going to merge the other thread into this one, so that nobody wastes time restating what has already been addressed.

If this causes any of you a momentary bit of annoyance, please say so here or send me a PM.

My apologies Cuchu....I did not make myself clear. Your first note said what I meant to...in that if you did not find what you wanted in the first forum...to have it put into another.
Mea Culpa!! Forgive my slightmindedness!!!
Hugs,

Sweet T.

Happy Birthday, albeit a day late. No problem. We try to discourage having the same question open in two or more (yes...this has happened!) forums at the same time simply because it can lead people to spend time answering a question that has already been answered well elsewhere.

Un abbraccio,
C.
