romance angle

Further to my earlier query on the forum, I wonder what 'romance angle' means here. Is it a trap of some sort to hook a woman? (This excerpt is what runs following my last excerpt in the query)
HIBBS: ... He ran the romance angle, hooked the wife and took the husband for all the money. He was pretty good at it, too, from what I hear. Till, sadly, one of his marks, in despair, took a gun, shot up his wife and blew his own head off. All in front of their little boy. ... (Lost, Outlaw)
I'd be much obliged if you could help me.

Here, 'angle' means the approach or trick that gets you what you want. This person used romance to get money. He acted romantically toward the wife so that she fell in love with him, then somehow he got the husband's money through the wife. (It's not clear to me how this worked. Maybe the wife was supposed to take the husband's money and run off with the man.) He used the "romance angle".
Very clear and understandable explanation. Thanks, Cagey.
