Saint Mark's square

Hi, everyone:

A woman wears a mask while posing for tourists in Saint Mark's square during the carnival in Venice February 14

I wonder if it is "Saint Mark's Square" or just "St. Mark's Square", and is "quare"ok?

If both are ok (Square and square), then what's the difference?
Best wishes.
I think you could write either St or Saint, though I suspect St is the more common.
I would certainly put a capital S on Square.
I would say that either Saint Mark's or St. Mark's is fine, although I would more naturally write the abbreviation. As for the capital letter, I would keep it. This is because "square" is actually part of the original name (Piazza San Marco).
The lower-case s would come into play if you wrote " ... in the square outside St Mark's during ... "

(Though in that case I would prefer 'plaza' to 'square;' but then I would really just write "... in the Piazza San Marco during ... ")
