hola foreros, me interesaria saber si alguien sabe explicarme que es una semilla propia y como se dice en ingles lo mismo?

Están hablando de la agricultura y en varios lugares aparece "propia", p.ej. "cosecha propia" en "Eso depende si es comprado o pertenece a una cosecha propia" 👁 Smile :)

La cosecha propia tampoco se como traducir, lo unico que entendi es que se trata de semillas no-comerciales en el ultimo caso.

the context is quite limited as they are menu items and short descriptions, i am taking a hint from the last section "cosecha propia" as one making a distinction between commercial seed and .........????....... The reason is somewhere else in the text i saw reference to proprietary seed (e.g. certain patented hybrids). i think your suggestion of previous crop for cosecha propia would make sense, not sure if saved seed would work for semilla propia given additional meaning the two words carry (and also i cant find a saved seed translation to spanish to confirm...) thanks for your help 👁 Smile :)

I've just found another reference on google (so not in my text, which creates a comparison of what it might and might not be: "Apoyemos el maiz propio. No al transgénico!!!" I am assuming it has the same meaning. So I am looking for the most adequate word - i don't think it's heirloom, organic, and given that this is a formal document "homegrown" would be out of the question too...
