“In some parts of the world a husband would be ashamed to be seen with a thin wife.”
Is “ashamed” used correctly in this context?
When is “shameful” used?
I am trying to use “shameful” by changing the sentence above a little. Please tell me if it is correct.
“Being seen with a thin wife would be shameful to a husband in some parts of the world.”
Thanks a lot.
Thank you, tinlizzy.
Could you tell me briefly the usage of "ashamed" and "shameful"
Thanks.
Ashamed is a personal feeling of shame.

Shameful is disapproval/shame/dishonor from others' opinions, not necessarily your own.
Thank you very much.
And now I know why my sentences are correct.
Thanks.
