Hi,
I would like to know if anyone can translate this phrase.."The shorthand Bush is relying on is that he will protect America and Kerry won´t".
I do not understand the meaning of shorthand on this phrase.

Shorthand means "taquigrafia", so I would translate the phrase as something like this: "El eslogan (o el lema) del que Bush depende es que él protegera a America, y Kerry no."
Yo lo traducirías igual pero el verbo como transmite, es decir:
"El eslogan o lema o idea pral. que transmite Bush és que el protegerá América y Kerry no"
