Hi,

I wonder if "simultaneously" sounds okay in the following context taken from an article. Can it be replaced by "at the same time"? Which one is preferred?

Traffic noise was recorded by Sony ICD MX20 recorder, and the noise level was measured by CEL-45 noise meter.

Thank you!
Yes, "simultaneously" = "at the same time." Which one to use depends on whether your prefer six-syllable words from Latin or one-syllable words from Anglo-Saxon. The absence of articles suggests that this was not written by a native speaker of English, but "simultaneously" was used correctly.
Many thanks for your explanation. where should the articles be inserted?
That's a different question, but we are supposed to be allowed "minor" (or something like that) corrections to OP's:

Traffic noise was recorded by a Sony ICD MX20 recorder, and the noise level was measured simultaneously by a CEL-45 noise meter.
